My kids are big fruit eaters. One of their favorite fruits are strawberries. I buy them in bulk because we eat so many. My husband teased me because after I clean them I would slice off the tops of the strawberries but taking too much of the edible strawberry with it which went to waste until my husband made a suggestion. We have so may sippy cups that come with sturdy straws so why not use them for just drinking?
First wash the strawberries very well, I use my homemade veggie/fruit wash to wash my fruits and vegetables in. Rip off the green tops of the strawberries. Then take a re-usable straw because they are more sturdy then the disposable straws and at the top of the strawberry push the straw gently through so that it goes through the whole berry.
Once it’s pushed all the way through the core will slide out in the straw at the bottom of the strawberry. Remove the core from the straw and proceed with the next berry. Simple right?
Are you like me, slicing the whole top of the strawberry and throwing it away? Why not give this easy method of coring a strawberry a try!
That is a brilliant idea. I am totally doing this every time now! Thanks.
Awesome! So easy and if it gets stuck in the straw I just blow it out and keep going! Thanks ladies…
This is a great tip My son goes through so many and I usually cut the tops off. I will be giving this a try.
So easy and simple. Now to grab some strawberries and get to coring.
I got some last night and I am going to try this today!!

This looks so easy and I only wish I had thought of this before! We have lots of those sippy cups around the house as well!
Wow, I wonder if strawberries will store longer or less with this method? I think this is great for dipping and skewering!
I have seen this before and think it is such an easy way to get the kids to help during strawberry season.
That is so clever and so simple! It will make life way easier!
What a great idea! This is so simple and easy – I always cut off the tops
That’s such a great idea! I would have never thought of that – I have been using a knife forever. Now, I am using a straw.
What an amazing trick!! I hate how much of the top of the strawberry gets chucked I am going to have to try this out!
This is such a cute trick. I would like to let my kids try this method. They would like it.
Great idea and there is little waste!

I saw recently on 1 of the cooking shows someone doing this. I can’t believe it wasn’t something I’d already known! Serious time saver!
WOW – MIND BLOWN! Super easy and love the clean up.
Great idea! Now why didn’t I think of that? I have been cutting off the stems for years. Love this tip! Thanks! 🙂
Neat idea. We use one of those tomato corers and just scoop out the top.
That was so easy! How did I not know about this sooner?!
So easy! I bet your kids line up to help you make the strawberries.
Hadn’t ever seen that technique but I’ll definitely be using it now.
What a great idea. Coring strawberries is always one of the worst parts of harvesting. Glad to know of an easier way!
I’ve heard of this trick before but I’ve never tried it! I definitely need to. What a cool, easy way to core strawberries!
This is seriously brilliant! I may have avoided strawberries in the past because of the stem
This is a very neat trick! I was wasting a ton of the berry too!
great tip.
That is such a clever idea. I love that I have straws on hand already so no extra tools to store.
This does seem like an easier way and I am not wasting half of the strawberry!
That’s a great idea. I would never have thought of that. I have strawberries in the fridge, i’ll remember that when I get them out.
This is awesome! We eat strawberries daily and never thought to do this, thank you!
Where has this secret been all my life? I love Strawberries and this will make eating them so much easier.
When I hand my kids a strawberry they only eat about half of it unless it is de-stemmed for them. This is genius!
Oh! So easy! My son is a fruit eater too! Thanks for an awesome tip I can put on my list of kitchen hacks! Yay!
This is a great tip! Thanks for sharing!
SO COOL ! I did not know you could do this.
What a smart idea. It would never occur to me to use a straw. Glad I read this.
That is a fantastic idea, I will have to do this next time we have some,.
I totally have to try this!
Now that is a great way and you will get more strawberries too. I am going to have to try this the next time I buy strawberries.
This is so smart! I’ve always hated wasting so much of the berry when I try to core it with a knife!
