Clothespin Dragonflies

I cannot believe how fast this summer has been. In less than a month our new homeschool year will begin.  I feel like our summer just started! The next few weeks I will be completely reorganizing our homeschool room, purchasing the last of our curriculum as well as finishing up planning our homeschool year week by week.  In between all of that the kids have camp, play dates, activities at church, etc.  To be honest there are many days I love just staying home.  Wearing my pajamas all day while getting chores done and keeping the kids busy.

Some of the ways I have been keeping the kids busy is by spending lots of time in our pool, teaching the kids how to cook/bake and doing some fun crafts.  We have been doing some bug crafts lately (I have a cute bug fingerprint craft to share with you soon as well).  I am trying to choose crafts that my 3 year old can participate in as well because he does not want to be left out of anything!

Materials

Pom Poms

Wooden clothespin

Pipe cleaners

Googly eyes

Sequins decorations

White glue

First take two pipe cleaners and bend them into wing (oval type) shapes, twisting the ends together and then place them in the portion of the clothespin that opens up.

Next glue the pom pom on the top of the clothespin where it opens. After gluing the pom pom glue the eyes to the dragonfly on each side of the pom pom.

Finally add all the embellishments to the “dragonflies body” of the clothespin.  Allow everything to dry and use it to decorate. I have my kids dragonflies on our kitchen window treatment pull cord for all of us to enjoy.

Have you made any clothespin crafts, if so what have you made? Be sure to check out a recent bug/insect craft I did with my kids – Paper plate butterfly puppet
