Parenting is one of the hardest jobs in the world. I have had a few jobs in my time but when I became a mother 12 years ago I quickly learned that it’s a job that is learn as you go. I was given a ton of advice from other moms but there are things I needed to learn on my own as well. Educating yourself was a must! Topics I knew nothing about such as breastfeeding, fevers, and developmental stages were just a few of the things any new mom should familiarize themselves with.
One of the resources any parent such pick up is the Baby & Toddler Basics Expert Answers to Parents’ Top 50 Questions book by Tanya Altmann MD (one of the country’s leading practicing pediatricians and best-selling authors). Parents with children from birth to age three can find answers to their most-frequently asked questions about child health and wellness in this easy-to-understand paperback book.
Fast forwarding from one child to now six children I am still learning. I find this book super informative. For instance a few months back my baby woke up with his right eye crusted over and sealed shut. I have never experienced this before with my other five children. I thought what on earth do I do so instinct kicked in and I took a warm washcloth and gently cleaned crusted discharge off his eye but now what? #79 in the Baby & Toddler Basics book has a section about pink eye which is helpful especially if your child has never experienced this before. Thankfully I took the book’s advice and took my baby to the pediatrician who prescribed eye drops for his eyes and his pink eye cleared up in a few days.
This book is loaded with other great tips and answers. I highly recommend this book to a first time mom/dad or to a mom/dad that is becoming a mom again. The Baby & Toddler Basics book is available for purchase directly from Amazon for approximately $11.56.
