My family is gearing up to celebrate Easter. One of the ways in doing so is by reading the death and resurrection of Jesus in our Bible. I have also gone through our bookshelves and pulled down all of our Easter related books to read to my children. This year we have acquired a new book; The Legend of the Sand Dollar which is how Easter is revealed through a sand dollar!
Written by Chris Auer this newly illustrated edition of The Legend of the Sand Dollar renews the wonder and charm of the timeless tale that explores the hidden meaning of Easter within the sand dollar which children can visually relate to. Not does the message of this story send a beautiful message to children the pages are also captivating with the beautiful vibrant artwork from Bad Dog, Marley illustrator, Richard Cowdrey, this holiday classic comes to life for a new generation. The Legend of the Sand Dollar tells the story of Kerry, as her cousin Jack reveals to her the deeper meaning of Easter hidden within something as small as a sand dollar. This Easter tale reminds everyone everywhere that when Jesus died for us and was resurrected, he promised hope for all.
Another book my daughter and I have been doing together is the Promises For You Coloring Devotional by Faithgirlz. This 60-day coloring devotional is filled with unique illustrations and patterns, you will read about God’s unchanging promises through NIV Bible verses, paired with detailed line art. Each page is printed on high-quality, thick paper stock that won’t bleed through so girls can use markers, metallic pens, or colored pencils that will not ruin the other pages in the book. Girls will have a chance to reflect and journal about each promise from Scripture, and find inspiration for every day. Perfect for girls 8-12.
This my daughter’s first devotional she is doing by herself. An artist at heart the coloring of each devotional holds my daughter’s interest and makes her want to do the daily devotional. I like that there is an area after she reads the devotional she can jot down her thoughts and prayers which I always find a blessing to go back to read later on.
How are you teaching your children God’s Word? Promises For You Coloring Devotional retails for $12.99 and The Legend of the Sand Dollar for $16.99. Both books can be purchased directly from Zondervan. Free shipping for orders over $25.00!
