Since my husband was a young child he has collected super hero memorabilia and watched every super hero movie under the sun! Our older boys are just like their dad, they get it honestly!  One of their favorite super hero team’s is the Fantastic 4.  Now that the new Fantastic 4  movie is available on Blu-Ray / DVD we are not just excited to get to watch this new movie but to incorporate some epic at-home science experiments that are inspired by the Fantastic 4 team’s super powers!

Our experiments included:

Mr. Fantastic’s Stretchy Slime

The Human Torch’s Combustible Candles

The Invisible Woman’s Invisible Ink

The Thing’s Clobberin’ Candy

The kids favorite were the invisible ink pens which represented the Invisible Woman. They wrote their secret message on paper and with the back light on the markers show their hidden message.

In the Mr. Fantastic’s Stretchy Slime several different slime concoctions could be made, the kids chose to make the Sewer Slime.  My husband being the chemical engineer was the perfect teacher for this as he explained the science behind the experiment while the kids participated mixing and stirring the materials.

Finally the Human Torch Combustible Candles were not just a science experiment but a craft as well as a science to the craft, almost like sand art in a jar resulting in a candle!  As you can see my daughter was thrilled to make these!
