How Are You Giving Tuesday? Celebrate #GivingTuesday With #GiveForward

When I leave my house and just moments from my home many times I see men and/or women standing on the street medians holding signs that they are hungry or homeless. This seems to be so common in my community and surrounding communities.  It is so sad.  Many times these people stand there all day long with hopes of someone to help them.  My children always ask me why they stand there and how can we help.  As their mom I feel that it is important to teach them to help others and that it is better to give than to receive.  It is important to give every day to those in need no matter what the need is.  This Tuesday December 2nd 2014 is GiveForward where we should not sit idle but we should get up and give! Giving could be done in so many way. Such as with time for instance bringing a meal to someone who is ill or giving with a monetary contribution.

GiveForward 1

GiveForward helps you raise money for yourself or for loved ones. It helps you raise more with an instant fundraiser setup. Quickly reaching friends and family. They can also help set you up with a personal coach to help your fundraiser succeed.   GiveForward wants to change the way the world views giving. Too often people feel comfortable with giving gifts of money during times of celebration such as a graduation or marriage but during times of real need, like a critical illness, people are afraid to give financial help.  GiveForward fundraising pages make providing financial support easier for everyone involved How about you, do you need help or do you know someone that needs help?  GiveForward can help raise money for yourself or a loved one.  So what are you waiting for?

  1. Robin (Masshole Mommy) says:

We just made a donation to our local food bank, but I didn’t know about this, so maybe we will make another one tomorrow.

  2. Great resource for fundraising! I like the idea more than “go fund me” and yes, it is awkward to give money in person sometimes. This is a great way to let more people contribute in a meaningful way.

  3. This is a great site – I plan to go through them tomorrow to give to a family in need.

  4. We will be doing a food donation to our churches food pantry if not on Tuesday within the next 2 weeks. Such a great initiative.

  5. We do a lot of giving back. I have to check this out, it seems like a good program.

  6. We have our bag of food ready to drop off at the donation center. But I’ll probably also make a meal for someone – everyone has been so sick in our family! 🙁

  7. I didn’t even know about giving Tuesday, but now I feel inspired. I have to think of ways to give and spread the love!

  8. In the past We kept a stash of gift cards to the local fast food restaurants and whenever we see someone in need we have something that we can give them.
Easier than money because at least then you know that it has to be used to buy food.
We also make sure to give to charity and teach the kids the reason why we do what we do.
We bless others because we ourselves are blessed.

  9. Perfect timing, with the upcoming holidays! It’s so important to give to those who could use a hand, especially when we are so very blessed. Thanks for the reminder!

  10. we need to talk about this again tonight at dinner. thanks for the reminder.

  20. It is important to teach our children about the importance of giving to others so that empathy and giving become part of who they are.

  21. Such a good idea. Great for all year long also.

  22. I love the thought of Giving Tuesday! So much better then focusing on shopping. Today my daughter and I will be doing lessons on Giving for Homeschool. We will be collecting food and toys to donate as well as visiting a Nursing Home to visit with some of the Senior Citizens there.

  23. I love Giving Tuesday. I will make a donation to one of my favorite animal charities today. I also plan to share on social media to let others know about it. I don’t have a lot to give financially, but I can donate my time!

  24. I didn’t know it was Giving Tuesday but we usually donate to our church pantry where they give out food every Wednesdays.

  25. That’s one of the great things about Christmas… people do reach out to share with the needy. We give year round, definitely more during the holidays though.

  26. I love Giving Tuesday because it helps put in perspective to give when so many people are spending this time of the year. Thanks for sharing your story.

  32. I like this idea. It is so important to give back to the community. So many people need help this time of the year.

  33. I like the idea of the GiveForward program. I’m so leery of helping those on the street because I’ve seen so many scams for myself. At least this way I can still help out.
