My daughter enjoys helping me in the kitchen. This week her and I made a simple dessert for her and her siblings to enjoy. This recipe is super easy and can be made with younger children with a little help.
Cup of Dirt Dessert
Yes I know it sounds gross but I promise there is no dirt in this dessert, just looks like there is! Even my prissy daughter liked the whole idea of dirt and worms in her dessert!
- 1 box of chocolate Jello-O pudding
- (I use almond milk instead of regular milk which is what the directions call for)
- 1 package of gummy worm candies
- 32 Oreo type cookies
- Prepare the pudding as the box directions suggest. Then open the Oreo type cookies and place them in a Ziploc type bag and with a mallet or other strong kitchen gadget tool pound the cookies until they are nothing but crumbs. Add the pudding to individual small cups or bowls (I used an ice cream cone scoop to transfer the pudding into the bowls). Then added 3 gummy worms on top of the pudding then sprinkled the cookie crumbs over the worms. Add in the refrigerator to chill for approximately 3-4 hours.
This recipe is a great hands on way for kids to learn about measuring (the milk into the pudding mix) and most of all following directions. My daughter’s favorite part was pouring and pounding the cookies into crumbs which made loud noises!
What about you have you made this tasty treat before, if not try making it with your kids. They will enjoy making it and then look forward to eating it!
Would your kids eat a cup or dirt?
