I wrote this post on behalf of Michaels and their PR Company. Mama to 5 Blessings received admission to Passport To Imagination Classes for my children in exchange for an honest review. This is not a sponsored review and all views and opinions are of my own and were not influenced in any way.
Our family loves to do arts and crafts. With our homeschooling curriculum almost completed we look for fun summer things to do. One of those fun this is the Michaels Passport to Imagination Program. From June 16 through Aug. 1 in all U.S. Michaels stores, travelers (kids ages 5 and up) will enjoy the voyage with 7 North America’s most fascinating museums for an imaginary road trip!
Kid travelers can meet up to three times up to a week in their local Michaels classroom on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for two hours, from 10 a.m.-noon, for only $2 per session, supplies included. The first 50 travelers to climb aboard Passport to Imagination at each store will receive a free tote bag.
Travelers will work on two crafts at each session, including one to keep and one to swap with their friends. To continue the adventure at home, additional projects and activity instructions may be found on Michaels.com/Passport. Supplies to complete the at-home projects may be purchased at Michaels.
I signed my 3 older kids up for these classes. We went to the 1st class; The Field Museum located in Chicago, Illinois). The project was the life cycle of a butterfly. Their craft consisted of making leaf with caterpillar eggs, cocoon and a butterfly. Then they made a frog on a leaf for their album project.
My kids love these classes because everything is hands on and they get to use so many different media’s to create with and then they can keep their pieces neatly in their own little notebook albums. I love these classes because all the supplies are included and there is no messes for me to clean up at home!
The week by week schedule is:
Week #1 The Field Museum (Chicago, Illinois) – completed
Week #2 Georgia Aquarium (Atlanta, Georgia) June 23rd or June 25th
Week # 3 Pima Air & Space Museum (Tucson, Arizona) June 30th or July 2nd
Week# 4 Perot Museum of Nature And Science (Dallas, Texas) July 7th and July 11th
Week #5 Denver Art Museum (Denver, Colorado) July 14th and July 18th
Week #6 The Museum At the Fashion Institute of Technology (New York, New York) July 21st and July 25th
Week #7 Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (Montreal, Quebec) July 28th and August 1st

Kids might have a wonderful time .. and the art work is amazing 🙂
What a fun little craft project! I need to grab some of these for my nieces and nephew!
What a neat idea. My boys would LOVE to do something like that.
Looks like the kids have a full schedule.
Mine is 15 so that’s not something we’d do together aha! However, that looks like a great time to have with little ones =]
Those are too cute! I love crafts that are easy and fun for kids. Some of the crafts out there “for kids” require a PhD to figure out!
This is such an awesome activities that I’m sure kids will enjoy. I like the idea of the passport – you’re sure that a lot of things are in store for everyone.
Michaels just expanded into our region and they don’t do crafts. At all. It makes us jealous of you guys!
Wow! This sound amazing!! Fun for the kids, inexpensive and no clean up for mom! What more could you ask for?
My girls love to do crafts! 🙂 I have to take them to this, I know we have them in our area.
That is so cute! I can’t wait until my daughter is older and I can take her to do these.
That looks like such a fun craft. I can’t wait for my daughter to be old enough for stuff like this.
This is such a cool program and a steal of a deal. I can’t wait to take my kids this summer!
What a fun project for kids to do, I know that my daughter would love to do this!
What a great program! I’m going to check our local Michael’s to see if they offer this! I love that they go to Museums! Thanks for the info!!!
I did not know about this program!! This sounds AWESOME! Thank you for letting me know.
My daughter loves doing crafts. We don’t have a Michaels anywhere near us 🙁 But this is really a great idea. Thank for sharing!
I love Michaels I wish they would expand more inn the Detroit area
Used to love and spend time at Michael’s when y kids were younger, now I mostly go alone to buy stuffs I need to my crafts
This is an amazing deal!! I love Michaels.!!
I have girls and literally from the second they could hold paintbrushes these two have been crafting. I enrolled one in preschool at 3 because I couldn’t keep up with her wild imagination. She is so artsy and creative and I love that but I am less imaginative with paint and glue. So I am still always looking for wYs to channel this creative spirit. Great to hear that michaels passport program can help me this summer.
This is what I like about Michaels, they always come up with craft classes that encourage craftiness and creativity for kids. Passport to Imagination sounds really cool my son will surely enjoy he is crafty but not sure if WI has this program.
I love the butterflies they made. My daughter did that one in her K-1class.
What a cool way to have fun and learn something at the same time! My son is a bit big for this but he also enjoys to have organized summer activities.
Butterflies are always fun to make! I have always been a fan of the Michaels craft activities.
I was just at Michael’s this weekend! It looks a super cute craft and program.
This looks so fun!! I’m not an artsy person but I love crafting
This looks like tons of fun. My girls are much more crafty than I am, they’d love this.
What cute butterfly crafts. I love the frogs, too, and would totally have chosen one of them.
What a jam packed week! I have always wanted to go to a shop at Michaels but I either forget or my son wants nothing to do with it. I think that it’s great that they are not only encouraging art but education as well 🙂
I checked online and it says from ages 3+ so I guess I’ll have to wait another year before my little one can go and enjoy herself. Thanks for sharing.
My daughter enjoys crafts! When she was younger, we also used to visit Michaels!
