I threw a birthday party for my son and daughter last week. For the 1st time I decided to make everything from scratch. The cupcakes, frosting and the colored sugar topping. (I will post the recipe for the cupcakes and topping soon). I cannot understand why I have been buying box mixes and toppings! It is so easy to make it all from scratch and it tastes so much better too!
My daughter wanted purple sugar topping on her cupcakes so I decided to make it myself.
DIY Colored Sugar Topping
2014-05-06 08:28:03
Ingredients
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- Food Coloring of your choice
- My daughter wanted purple so I added 4 drops of red and 4 drops of blue food coloring on the sugar and put it in my Kitchen-Aid (our you could use any mixer) and mix until fully blended to the desired color. The 1 cup of sugar was enough for 12 cupcakes plus I had some left over which I put in a plastic zip-loc bag for next time.
