Apologia Swim Creatures Lesson 5 (Primeval Reptiles)
When I first turned to this lesson I have to admit I thought this lesson was going to be a bore but I was wrong. My son and I really enjoyed learning about these old sea creatures – the 1st fossils found by a 13 year old child in 1810!
We were thankful to be able to go to the Orlando Science Museum on vacation and see fossil replica’s of the Plesiosaurs and Pliosaurs
We also did an up close experiment, according to our curriculum a Pliosaurs had head approximately 9 X 3, so we my son measured and drew out the dimensions on our back patio using chalk. Then he drew the 2 long rows of teeth (each tooth about the size of a banana). My son and I are both visual learners – this was a perfect way to get an idea of how big these creatures really were! HUGE!
