THE HOMESCHOOL VILLAGE – WHAT WILL I BE USING TO TEACH THE ARTS?

This week’s topic at The Homeschool Village is what you are planning on teaching for art?!
Art is very near & dear to my art. Drawing, painting, etc. I always wanted to be an art teacher but due to bad decisions my Sr. year of high school I didn’t go to the school of the arts college I was accepted too. So I guess I am an art teacher, just to a smaller class – my kids!
Our Kindergarten school year officially has begun and this year I will be using the following art curriculum’s:
Artistic Pursuits (which I will be offering a giveaway for within a week)
Draw Write Now
As well as some other various books for kids on how to draw.
Aside from that weekly my kids are either painting, drawing, coloring, sculpting (with play-doh), etc. Since art is so dear to my heart it’s something I will definitely encourage with my children.
We recently took some music co-op classes within our homeschool too. I would like to encourage music, possibly trying the piano in 1st grade.
Here are a recent pic of my kindergartner’s masterpieces!

  2. I have heard such good things about Artistic Pursuits … Thanks for sharing your plans!

    Have a blessed day!

  3. It may be a smaller classroom, but it’s a very important one. I feel the same way about my various giftings. . . “Oh, I could be teaching or ministering to so many people. . .” I’m always reminded that, right now these are the most important people for me to teach. When they are grown, I can do what I need to to teach others.

I’ll have to look into Artistic Pursuits. Thanks for the recommendation.

And thanks for stopping by, too!

  4. thanks Nicole for sharing! I wanted to be a history teacher and due to poor decisions did not finish college. But yet – here I am teaching history today! God definitely has a plan far better than I can see!

    thanks for linking up –

  7. I totally forgot about Draw Write Now. We used them a lot in our Science last year. Hmmmm….maybe we did more art that I realized.

  8. Oh that giveaway sounds great! I can’t say my 4 year old is even close to that ‘art’, maybe another year? We’ll keep working on it! Thanks!www.breebee.com

  9. oo that picture is so sweet! Love the lady bug!!

  10. I’ve heard great things about Artistic Pursuits. I chose to go another route though. I Can Do All Things art curriculum. That comes with a dvd instructor. Very helpful because art is not near and dear to my heart but I’d like it to be. LOL
