We are still learning about some of the animals we learned about during the behind the scenes tour at Sea World for my son’s 5th birthday. For the 1st time he got to touch a shark! So this week was about sharks!
So we looked at our sharks teeth we dug up at our science musuem underneath our new microscope. We discussed how they were different (different in appearance because they came from different species)
Then we sorted them by what we thought came from what species.

What a cool microscope. I didn’t know they made kid friendly ones. I’m to do some research!
What a great week! I love that his birthday present has allowed for so many great learning opportunities!
How fun! I’ve been thinking of getting that same microscope… would you recommend it?
Nicole – We love this microscope – my mom bought it for my son for his birthday. It came with a bunch of real bugs on slides then the microscope talks and tells you about what bug is int he scope + it asks questions – what a great learning resource! My boys love it! I highly recommend it!
Hmmm, maybe I’ll request that for my kids for Christmas, what brand is it?
And what a cool animal study, if I’d had money today I would have beggared myself buying shark teeth and rocks.
Hi there! I just saw your comment on another blog about your Baby Bash/Pregnancy Party. If you are looking for any tutorials or contributors I would love to be involved! I am a childbirth educator and natural childbirth proponent. I have cloth diapered and breastfed all three of my kids. Just let me know, I’d love to help!

I thought it was a lizard or some other reptile. I never knew a shark can look like that.
forgot to mention that I am coming from babyinthebigcity.blogspot.com
We recently went to Reef HQ over here in australia for a home school event. My children love watching all the fish, sharks, turtles etc, etc… I have to admit I could just sit there and watch them for hours also. http://throughourknowledgeofhim.blogspot.com/2010/04/look-at-all-fishes.html this is the link of our recent trip. thanks for sharing
This microscope is way cool – what a great present for the budding scientist.
My kids love exploring. Newest #FF vistor looking forward to knowing your site. Visit me back at @ http://lifeisasandcastle.blogspot.com/
We’ve been considering a microscope purchase as well. I’d love to know more about it as well.
The microscope is neat! This is my first time at your blog, I came from Ramblings of a crazy woman link up.
I did that tour for my sons 4 birthday many years ago! He could not believe that he touched a real live shark! LOL
Looks like you all had fun! Yay!
Such a great week!!
I am with the others, I love that microscope! I’ve been looking for a microscope that would work with Selena!
What a cool unit study! I love the idea of sorting the teeth by species. I could handle that little shark…but anything bigger would give me chills 🙂
I have that same microscope, but after looking how professional your boy looks using it, I had to see if it was the same one(lol). I really liked the shark tooth work.
