Homemade Applesauce Recipe – Why Buy It In The Store?

I  have cut out processed foods, making what I eat homemade. Basically moving to the Paleo diet eating natural sugars versus processed sugary products. One item I enjoy is applesauce. It you purchase it in the store they add preservatives and other ingredients to it that are not necessary. So I now make my own.

So why buy it in the store when you can make it yourself? It tastes so much fresher than store bought!

  1. 6 Large Apples Peeled
  2. 3/4 Cup Water
  1. Peel all the apples, place in a steamer. I have a rice cooker which also steams vegetables. If you do not have a steamer you can boil them in water until they are soft. Once they are nice and soft place in a blender (I use my VitaMix) add the 3/4 cup of water and blend really well until completely blended. That's easy! All natural, no chemicals added! You can also add cinnamon to your liking too!
  1. My 9 month old baby even loves this. Perfect for adults and children!
