Farm Tour 1/8/10
We finally had our farm tour! It was one of the best homeschool field trips we ever had! 1st the began with story time with Mrs. Wishy-Washy. The stories were about the Gingerbread Man & farm animals. **some of the photo’s I cropped my friends children’s faces, due to not wanting to put them on the internet w/o permission)**
Then the kids had to go look for the gingerbread man outside in the wooded area, they found him peaking out the window of the house where we did the story time which was a house that had a bedroom & kitchen (these rooms were real rooms but had Plexiglas in the doorway so no one could go in them). This little house was Mrs. Wishy Washy’s house (pretend).
Then the kids had music time with Uncle Shelly who played the guitar & did interaction songs with the kids. His lyrics where hilarious & very creative – the kids loved him so did us moms!
yes that’s my son smiling at me
Then it was time for the animals!
1st the cow
Next the petting animals part where the boys got to pet sheep & goats.
Mama w/ her Little Princess
Here is a black chicken that was pounding a frog back & forth on the ground so he could eat it – yuck!
Then we saw the 2 big pigs.
JJ’s favorite pig was Arnold, they fed apples too him. He was a big slobbery mess with snarly hair coming out of his nose!
Then the kids got to pet a chicken that just laid an egg this very day!
Finally it was time to see the horses!
On our way out we say a peacock. We even found a peacock feather that we are going to add to our Nature Box
Then we haveĀ What did we see at the farm check list to check off
Pigs
I generated my own worksheet from Word again with my own questions: Names of male, female & baby pig, what do they eat, what do they provide for us?
Then JJ wrote out Bible verse: Deuteronomy 14:11
Here are some worksheets we did:
Then I found a farm animal fun worksheet from http://www.tlsbooks.com/ (I can’t find the link now for the exact worksheet – sorry) This worksheet you match the name of the animal then at the bottom of the page there is a spot for the child to draw their favorite animal – JJ drew a pig (his 1st time drawing a pig)

What a great field trip! That is the kind of stuff that makes homeschooling so much fun!
What a fun trip! I am sooooo taking the boys there!
