Hippo paste & put together
I saw this really cute Hippo on Confessions from a homeschooler, she incorporated with teaching the letter “H”. My toddler is not ready for that yet so I printed off the hippo, cut it out, jumping bean colored it some more & gave him the picture directions to look at with a glue stick & he put the pieces where they belonged by looking at the picture directions.
My husband & I took the kids to Home Depot where they have their free kids workshop clinics. The last class they had was putting wooden calendars together. So with a little help from my husband & myself the boys made their wooden calendars. We decided that plain wooden calendars were kind of boring so we took them home & the boys painted them then we put the stickers on them. Now everyday they can move their calendar pegs over to the correct day of the week + they can move their number blocks to the correct date.
Tangrams
I made a homemade tangram file folder game for jumping bean. He enjoys matching the shapes but needs a little help! I photo copied mine from a producible book from my library but you can make your own here.

Super cute hippo. I also like the idea of decorating the calendar at home.
What a fun week! I love the calendar and I hadn’t even thought to go to the workshops at the hardware store!
yes, next month is a toy car holder, then in Mrach is a rain guage. We love these workshops – Lowe’s has them too but are not as nice as Home Depot’s.
I hadn’t pulled out my tangrams yet because I couldn’t find any pictures that would be age appropriate for my son, so thanks for sharing the link. I will go check it out later.
Thanks for the tanagrams link. I can not wait to check it out.
