I am teaching my son reading, number reconginition, basic addition, etc. But I really never taught him some of the basics like pouring water, buttoning a button, etc. I always did those things for him until now. Alot of things I didn’t teach him he just somehow learned on his own. Some of the thins we did this week he told me were too easy – I did them anyways because I wanted to see what he could do.
JJ opening various size locks w/ keys.
snapping snap buttons
Buttoning shirt
He did it all by himself!
Pouring water without spilling
buckles
un-screwing lids
taking off & on pop up lids
sharpening pencils
opening & closing all sorts of latches
tying shoe laces (he needs lots of work with this but he did pretty well) I used our 1st Amazing Game board book, it has a hands on page on how to tie your shoe laces.
threading small screws with washers (I purposely choose small objects)
My son had fun doing these type of activities – this week made me realize I need to do more Montessori activities with him on top of just homeschooling! Most of his responses this week were I like that!

I don’t do alopt of that type of stuff with Christopher either. But I should. Looks like ya’ll had fun. Thanks for the link up.
Thanks for sharing! I really need to do some of those things with my 4 yr old! He looks like he has mastered them now!
Love the “I’m Big” ideas! New Follower Here from Follow Friday!
Great ideas!
I’ve never taken much time to teach Selena these skills, but she has figured them out on her own. LOL!! Wish she would have waited a little longer, as now every piece of clothing comes off on her demand, and screws are not sacred in anything if she can get them loosened. Your smart in waiting until he’s a little older so he will understand not to take everything apart! LOL
A lot of fun and useful activities.
Where did you assemble all of those locks and keys? That seems like such a cool activity.
I love that latch box! Where did you get it?
Thanks for participating in Friday Follow. I am catching up to the links. Rita @ http://one2try.blogspot.com/
Looks like someone is very proud they buttoned their shirt all on their own! Stopping by with Friday Follow sorry I am a bit late.
