Mouse Shapes ~ stART

A Mommys Adventures does a fun blog carnival. Read your child a story then do art to accompany the story.

This week we read Mouse Shapes. What a fun book!

While reading Mouse Shapes, my boys & I used our foam blocks to illustrate the pictures in the book. We made our own Mouse Shape sculptures!

House                                                                           Tree

Wagon & book
Fish
The Cat
The Mice
The cheese
Then they built their own sculptures!

Comments

  1. A lovely activity to match the book! The foam blocks look really great.

  2. I love how you had them build it with blocks. What a great idea.
I have yet to find the Mouse Shapes book at my library.

  3. This is not only a story stretcher, but a good exercise of geometry, and reasoning skills. I love the block mice – so cute!

  4. I really like how you built all the shapes out of blocks even though they look a little different in the book. It’s a great read by the way, and I am going to bring it back from the library shortly for more math activities with my daughter.

  5. Hi Nicole,
I have been following your blog for a while and it is such an encouragement to me to find so many Christian mom’s online! I love seeing the creative things you do with your kids. I had a question concerning cloth diapers, but when I emailed you, it came back and said it was not able to deliver it. So,I’m posting a comment that has absolutely nothing to do with the post it’s connected with….sorry about that 🙂
I had a question regarding cloth diapers. My husband and I are seriously considering making the switch, and I was wondering what your diaper of choice and brand is. My daughter is 7 mths and a chunk! She is average height and has a thick waist and thighs. Cost is and isn’t an issue. I want to be as thrifty as possible, but yet want to get a good quality diaper that will last, as we want to have more children.
If you have time to reply I would really appreciate it. I do not know many families using cloth, so it is hard to get opinions.
    Thanks so much!

  6. I love the idea of using the foam blocks. When I did this activity and book with my girls I cut out all the shapes. Your way is much easier!

  7. Annette – I e-mailed you privately. Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to help you get started on a cloth diaper journey! 🙂

  8. Creative block play. Looks like fun and reminds me of a playful patterns game own.
