Butterflies with Baby!

Every Thursday A Mommy’s Adventures does a really fun blog carnival every Thursday – read your child a story then accompany it with art!

The book I choose this week is God’s Wonderful Plan.
Little caterpillar knows he is special because God created him. In this book, young children will learn about faith as they follow the little caterpillar on his journey to a life he never expected.
The caterpillar turns into a butterfly! We have been working my on baby’s new room – moving her out of our bed into her own room making room and preparing for our new baby due in December. Butterflies seemed so fitting for her so her room is done in sage & pink butterflies. Here is a craft her and I worked on together yesterday for her bedroom. After it dried I framed it in a frame I had painted to match her room and hung it on her wall.
Her handprint and footprint butterflies! It didn’t turn out as neat as I would have liked but this was not easy to do with a 13 month old who wanted to just play in the paint! By the time I was done I had to give her a bath in the downstairs sink because of the BIG mess!

  1. Thats precious!!

  2. How cute! You could complement these with the new babies feet and make a “smaller” set of butterflies… always looking for new hand and feet projects! We will have to have a go!! Red Ted keeps asking to paint with his feet again, after we did a fish aquarium (http://redtedart.wordpress.com/2010/04/14/story-art-great-start-hurray-for-fish/)

And I made paper bunting with my baby’s feet for her room!!

Lovely post! So nice to make something for a new arrival!
