HOMESCHOOL WEEKLY WRAP UP ~ WK OF 10/11 (SPIDERS!)

We decided to do a week lesson on spiders, not because of halloween because we do not celebrate halloween but because we saw 8 giant Banana Spiders at our local zoo recently.

We made a spider lapbook using the following to make resources:
What have you learned about spiders – PRINT OUT
Several printouts HERE (life cycle, webs, etc.)
I also found resources from our Evan Moor Giant Science Resource Book
Enchanted Learning

He drew the spider on the front of the lapbook

Using a black paper plate – cutting slits along the slides and wrapping white yarn around it for the web & then printing out a spider coloring page & minimizing it, the kids coloring it, here’s what you get:

My 5 year old’s (the round things are magnetts, we hang their artwork on our doors inside the house)
My 3 year old’s
Books we used for this week’s spider lesson:
Eye View Bugs & Spiders
Ralph Masiello’s Bug Drawing Book
Simon & Schuster Children’s Guide to Insects & Spiders
I Wonder Why Spiders Spin Webs
Miss Spiders Tea Party
A few more crafts my 3 year old made this week:
using a toliet paper roll – he painted spiders

I cut out some spider web & spider die cuts, he glued & painted them
I cut out a portion of a cardboard egg carton, & we made a spider
I took my kids to a new park during the week & they said they were “spiders” climbing up the web
