Fidget Spinner Birthday Cake (Tutorial)

Oh how time flies…..  Our second son turned 10 years old a few weeks ago. Since we are in our new home and have the room we decided to have his party there.  He requested a pool party and a Nerf gun war with his friends.

I try to make homemade birthday cakes for my kids because the cakes I make are special and made with love tailored to that particular child.  Since my son is into fidget spinners I decided to make him a fidget spinner cake. No the cake did not spin, nothing actually spun. So how was it a fidget spinner cake? I reused the actual fidget spinner packaging that my kids fidget spinners came in!

Materials / Ingredients

Plastic container that the fidget spinner was in the packaging.

White chocolate or almond bark

Cake mix

Cake icing

Gel decorative coloring

First I cleaned out the plastic container that the fidget spinners were in.  Then I broke up the almond bark and melted it by placing it in the microwave and melting for 30 seconds, mixing and then melting another 30 seconds.  I poured the almond bark in the clean fidget spinner molds.

Next I placed all the filled molds on a baking sheet and chilled in the freezer for about an hour.  While the fidget spinner’s were chilling I made two cakes per the box directions, allowed them to cool and frosted them. Once the fidget spinners were chilled I put a little fine detail on them using decorating gel (to make it look like the bearings) and added them to the top of the cakes.  I made enough fidget spinners so that each child would receive a slice of cake and a fidget spinner

Needless to say my son and his friends thought this was cool even if it didn’t spin!  What fidget spinner related goodies have you made for your kids?
