In preparation of our family expecting our 5th baby next Friday I decided to put together a baby theme sensory tray. With all baby related baby items.
Most of the items for this sensory tray I purchased at the Dollar Tree in the baby shower section (diaper pins, baby blocks, bear picks and baby carriages). The clear and pink gems I bought on clearance at Michael’s. The cheese shaker was also a Dollar Tree find and the baby toy with the highchair and bassinet I pulled out of my daughter’s Fisher Price doll house. I chose mostly pink items because we are expecting a girl.
I printed off parts of the womb nomenclature cards and stages of baby development cards, cut them out and glued them to the back of empty cereal boxes and cut them out making them heavy duty cards. I added these to her sensory tray. We went over the nomenclature cards and she looked at the pictures of the stages of baby development while pregnant cards and placed them in order by the just looked at the appearance of the baby on the cards Amazing all the questions a 3 year old has!
I added everything to a tray I purchased at a consignment store just for Montessori learning.
My kids placed the bear picks in the cheese shaker, scooped the gems with spoons and tongs and transferred, stacked the blocks, etc.
Then after my 3 and 2 year had finished with this tray I pulled out our homemade Play-Doh and set the tray on the table and they used their baby sensory tray items incorporated with the Play-Doh. Play-Doh with a chop stick in the center where she threaded the diaper pins on, stamped the Play-Doh with the embossed raised letters and images and made diaper pin impressions in the Play-Doh.
