I decided to make my son fun spelling cards, using clip art I copied & pasted the pictures into Word (2 pictures per page). I put each page in a clear plastic protector sheet. Then using wooden capital craft letters, I had him look at the picture and spell out the word. Quite a few of his Abeka reading books have the word and the picture so at times when he reads he sees the picture so at least this way he can’t put two and two together and guess what the word is because now it’s just a picture and he has to spell the word out!

great idea!
That is a wonderful idea! I will have to adapt that for my little one. Now..if only I could find pictures for my 12 year old’s spelling list….hmmm…..do they have clip art of “frustrated”? I could just use a pic of me. lol
what a great idea! I really like how he can interact with them!!!
What a clever idea! I may just have to steal this! 😛 Thanks!
This looks like lots of fun…and it looks easy to make! Thanks for sharing 🙂 I am following you now from the Mama Zone!
Congrats on Baby 4! Your kids are really precious!

Ten Talents…
Very cool. I have been pondering how to do something similar for my (gulp!) toddler for letters or colors to use in the car. if you have any suggestions for something with few pieces, or just a way for her to look at things in the car, that would be great. I don’t want to pack books back and forth and would love an idea of a cheap way to make her some items to look at only in the car, so it’s special and still a learning thing at the same time.
