I have held this large sandwich bag box for weeks now waiting till I decided to do texture activities with my toddler & my baby. This week is all about texures. I got this idea from A Place of Our Own t.v. show (I Tivo everyday to get ideas to do with my children). I modified our texture box to suit my childrens needs.
I covered the top of the box with purple constuction paper so that the hole opening wouldn’t be so large then with clear packing tape I taped the hole opening edges so it wouldn’t rip. Then I added:
a hardwood floor sample (from the hardware store)
cotton from a jewelry box
a felt frog I made for my kids felt board
a piece of aluminum foil
a wooden round wheel piece
purple tissue paper
a blue pom pom
corrigated cardboard
a large balloon
a piece of bubble wrap
Easter grass
chenielle fabric
chenielle fabric
As my toddler pulled out each item we discussed the different textures: soft, hard, bumpy, etc. I would do this with complete supervision only because my children are littler.
I will post pictures of them doing this activitity on Tot School Sunday.

Our game today! We’ll be playing it soon.
I love it! Great idea!
This is a fantastic idea! We wil be trying this!
What a clever idea. I’m currently working on a texture activity for K which is similar. Thanks so much for linking up to Tot Tuesdays this week! I am hosting my first giveaway which ends on Tuesday and I hope you’ll stop by. Have a great week! ☺
Great Idea! I’ve been wanting to do the same with my 3 kiddos but haven’t gotten it together yet. 🙂
Blessings!
