My kids are sick with little colds – we have been cooped up in the house resting, doing schooling, etc. We went for a walk in our complex today, I had to find a way to find a fun way to teach. My kids are grumpy when they are sick! After checking finding some really great printable scavenger sheets out from http://www.scavengerhuntsforkids.com/ I decided I could make some of my own sheets that fit for us. So I made a neighborhood scavenger hunt sheet. It was so easy. I typed it up in Microsoft Word. Since my preschooler can only read the “a” 3 letter words I decided to type in my search engine specific clip art items then copied & pasted them onto the sheet next to the word of the item my preschooler was to “hunt” for. My preschooler circled each item he saw that matched on his sheet. As we went for our walk I wrote down a list of other items I will use to make my next Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt sheet. He loved this game, he used his thinking skills, senses and he was very observant! His words to me, ” I like this game”. Here is the sheet I made.

Great scavenger hunt. I did this once with a set of nature pics for the park. It really keeps them involved and paying attention!
