I opt for homemade when I can. Homemade always seems to taste better and the ingredients I am familiar with and can pronounce! There is nothing better than a nice sweet creamy taste to coffee, toppings on desserts or in hot cocoa. Sure buying whipping cream in the store is easy and there are different varieties to choose from like Cool Whip or Redi Whip but just as fast as I can purchase it I can make myself! Homemade whipping cream is so easy to make, here’s how:
Ingredients:
1 Cup of Chilled Heavy Cream
2 Tablespoons of Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
I use my Kitchen-Aid with the whisk attachment but a handheld mixer will do also. Pour all three ingredients in a bowl and whisk for approximately 30 seconds. If it is the consistency what you want then you are done, if you want higher peaks whisk for another 30 seconds. Be careful you do not over whisk because you may wind up with homemade butter instead of whipping cream! When you are done place in the refrigerator until needed. This recipe makes approximately 2 cups.
My kids like for me to put it in the freezer. It makes a nice refreshing dessert, just add sprinkles or fresh fruit to the top! What would you use your whipping cream for?

We love home made whipped cream too. It is great to put on fruit and I love that it is easy to make. Which reminds me, I need to get some vanilla extract for the pantry.

I love making homemade whipped cream. At times, I add a little sour cream to the whipping cream to make it stay solid a little longer. With the sugar added you never notice the sour cream.
