Mama & Baby Rhino (Almost) Wordless Wednesday With Linky

WW CAMERA

We recently went on a homeschool field trip to Lion Country Safari with our Classical Conversations group. One of the things that is so great about Lion Country Safari is that you can drive thru their safari area in your own vehicle and see the animals up close. Some even come up to your car!

Baby on my mind since I am 7 months pregnant my heart melted when I saw this mama rhino and her 1 year old baby, Blossom together. Where mama went baby followed. What a sweet thing to watch.

“The baby, named Blossom, was born to mom Bloom after 16 months of gestation. It’s unusual for a white rhino to give birth during the day; they are usually born at night. It is expected for Blossom to gain 3-4 pounds a day from her mother’s milk, and will gain about a thousand pounds a year for the first three years.  Baby rhinos nurse for almost two years.”
