Our family recently took a mini staycation trip. Our hotel was wonderful but there were big banana spiders that enjoyed the palm trees by the pool. Their spider webs glistened in the sun and stretched from tree to tree. I am not exaggerating when I say the 1st day I counted over 12 of them! They didn’t bother us because they were further back a bit. The funny thing is that the female is huge but the male is a tiny little thing!

Yikes! I’m glad you weren’t too creeped out to photograph them.
They are amazing and the females one rocks! Thanks for sharing =) #ww
Not a fan of spiders!
It is creepy, yet really interesting. I had no idea the girls were so much bigger.
That is the stuff of nightmares!!

Females are big even when we don’t seem so…
While in some cases females may seem smaller, the reality is that we are big in heart and in many other things as well :)…
Thanks for sharing !
Ohh, scary! I do not like Spiders, wonder how your children enjoyed seeing them!
That’s seriously creepy.. the female is so much bigger then the male spider.
I remember, when I lived in Fl, huge spiders like that with something like an hour glass on it.
Spiders creep me out π
I am visiting from Picture Perfect Party
I am also following you through Bloglovin`
Nice to meet you π
Eeeek, that is creepy!
Wow. Reminds me of the spiders I used to see in the Philippines when I was growing up. I used to know which were poisonous and which weren’t. It was a must because we used to have spider fights/tournaments. We’d get two spiders on a stick, which would force them to fight for territory and push each other off. If your spider stayed on, you win! Barbaric, I know, but we were in the province with no tv and what else were we supposed to do for entertainment? LOL. We even kept our prized spiders in special matchboxes!
I covered my greatest fear on the blog on Monday for I must confess. You will never guess what my biggest fear is?!
So much bigger!! I’d be creeped out too with so many spiders around!
Love the photos of the spiders.
Yikes!
Wow, great shots! I don’t mind spiders generally, but those are pretty interesting….
As long as you could still see them after the photo, maybe it was OK.
Eek!! I really, really hate spiders. You are brave to take a picture!
*Shudder*!
Wow! We just found a giant spider on our front porch. My daughter kept telling us it was a black widow and we said no. After killing it, we realized she was right. Crazy, right?
Happy WW!

Shudder! So not my favorite thing at all.
Uhhhhhhh, morning heebie jeebies!
We have tons of spiders where we live, but I love them because they keep others bugs away.
YUCK! I hate spiders! I like to take pics of them but I still hate them π
Yikes. That is a lot of spiders
Creepy indeed!
*Shudder*
Up close and way to personal with those spiders.
Wow…that is one big spider. It would scare me and my son if we saw that in person.
OMG, the female looks huge…
that’s so funny — I wonder if she is the kind of spider that eats the male after…. ???
as long as they remain on their side of the pool, I am fine with sharing nature with them! but my kids would have been all over them, trying to catch one!
Living near the river we have all different kinds and shapes of the little buggers and I hate them all. I don’t even like looking at them. Sorry, so not a fan of the nasty buggers and they’re not a fan of me because they’re always biting me. π
