My 2 older boys do Apologia Land Animals this year for Science. Below are a few activities we have done with the curriculum.

Lesson 2 (Carnivorous Animals)

We did the following crafts:

Origami Fox – I found the instructions on how to make the fox face out of origami on Pinterest, gives a video on how to do it, easy enough that my kids were able to do it.

Once they had the origami face completed we glued it to water color paper and then they drew and painted the fox body.

Then we made pipe cleaner bears. The instructions were fairly easy.

Next my friend over at Our Hope is the Lord had us over and we made bears out of sea shells.

 Lastly we did an experiment.

Instructions: 1 box of lemon Jello then use food coloring (we used green). Pour half of the Jello in one bowl and the other half in another. In one bowl sprinkle a few drops of food coloring, stir and let both bowls firm in the refrigerator. Once firm have the children smells both bowls and ask them what scent they smell and then allow them to eat it and ask what they taste.

One of my boys said one bowl was lemon and the other green apple. My other son said lemon and strawberry. The purpose of the experiment was to teach children how dog’s have sensitive noses and humans can smell pretty well too. Changing the Jell-O color may change what flavor the Jello and even the scent. At least it did with my kids.
