KIDS NEED MORE ART — INSECTS ( LEARN & LINK) LINKY

Do you have an educational post that is about your child and you would like to share? It can be a craft, a lesson, sport etc. that your child learned this week. You do not have to be a homeschooler to LINK up below – happy to have you join us! Then come back every Friday and continue to share your learn and link post! Please do not link up educational reviews – thanks!

This week we went on a really great field trip with our homeschool group. The 1st half of the class the kids did watercolor and print art and the 2nd half of the class they were given bug nets for the kids to catch bugs in the nature area.

The kids were given hexagon (to resemble a beehive comb) cardstock shapes and they traced this shap all throughout their pictures and then they pained each hextagon shape in a different watercolor paint.

After the watercolor paint dried , they took a 3D bee image, rolled it with black screening paint and then pressed it over the watercolor paintings.

My kids finished art work:

Then the kids went in seach of bugs:
My older boys caught a grasshopper (left picture) and a little tiny green bug of some sort. Even my 2 year old was trying to catch bugs with his net! After all the kids caught their bugs and looked at them under magnifying boxes they released them back into nature.

  1. Where did you get the large bee stamp? Did you make it.? I love this project and can’t wait to try.

  2. That is a cute project! A study of bees would go great with it. The bee is a collagraph- collage+ graph. It is a collage of cut and glued pieces that are inked and printed. See the link to my blog below for other ideas using collagraphs. They are fun and easy to make!

  3. I’d also love to know where you got the bee from
