Ever since I have started homeschooling my oldest son we have used Handwriting Without Tears. Each year I have purchased that grade curriculum that he was in and this year I have two I am homeschooling (my kindergartner) who I also have been using Handwriting With Tears with.
I like this particular curriculum because my children have fun and look forward to each lesson. They teach handwriting properly, following the rules of handwriting which I think makes a huge difference in penmanship. This curriculum has really helped my children’s handwriting progress through out the year. I have seen a huge improvement! I have also started my three year old daughter on the Preschool Handwriting Without Tears curriculum and I am amazed how well she is doing with it.
How does this curriculum work so well?
The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum draws from years of innovation and research to provide developmentally appropriate, multi sensory tools and strategies for your classroom.  They teach with a love of learning which makes the child love to learn too!   Handwriting Without Tears is dedicated to developing excellent materials for children and training for teachers.
Now we can do handwriting on the go too or at home! Handwriting Without Tears has come out with a fantastic App! The Wet-Dry-Try App!
Wet-Dry-Try teaches Capital Letters and Numbers is an app version of the popular Handwriting Without Tears Slate Chalkboard activity. Handwriting Without Tears is renowned for its fun multi sensory teaching tools, and the Wet-Dry-Try App adds a new, supplementary way to learn. It builds and reinforces good handwriting habits for capitals and numbers. It’s especially helpful with teaching correct formation and orientation habits. The result: children learn to write capitals and numbers with the right steps and without reversals!
So how this App work?
The main menu allows you to add up to 3 children so that you can keep track of their progress. You can choose two different options: Pick and Practice allows the teacher or child to choose which letter or number they would like to practice while the Handwriting Without Tears Winning Order which has all the capitalized letters and numbers for children to practice writing, once the child is able to write the letter correctly they receive a star on their menu screen, the screen unlocks a new letter to practice.
How to use
First the child can watch the App write a chalk letter. The child can see each stroke of the letter so that they get an idea how to write the letter, next a sponge appears on the screen for the child to trace the chalked demonstration letter. Then crumbled paper towel appears at the top of the wet outline of the letter for them to trace over and dry the letter. Finally the child will have an opportunity to write the letter themselves in chalk on their App board.
All three of my older children have really enjoyed this App. They do not want to just work on one particular letter, they want to keep going onto the next letters which gives them a love of learning. There are many days when we are on the go and we are not able to open up our Handwriting Without Tears I have given them my iPad for them to practice their letters on the The Wet-Dry-Try App.

I highly recommend this App to all parents for their children to practice their handwriting. Perfect for homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers. Handwriting Without Tears Wet-Dry-Try App sells for $4.99 and can be purchased directly from Google Play (Android) or iTunes (iPad).
