our way of learning days of the week, months, etc.

We started something new this week – my husband built a HUGE cork board in our downstairs hallway – so I hung up JJ’s cloth calendar & magnetic calendar. We have worked on the days of the weeks in the past but sometimes he gets them out of order, so now we will be working on the months, days of the week, months, year and weather.
Every day he will but up the date, day and weather
The 1st of every month he will set up his magnetic calendar for that month
Then on his dry erase board underneath his magnetic board everyday he will write out the day & date

  1. This is a great idea to teach your children the day, date, month and year. I purchased a cloth calendar also and have found it to be a great teaching tool.. and to have a pin board where you can see everything every day is great.

  2. God bless you for homeschooling. I don’t and would not be a good candidate for it but I do admire those who do.
    Doin’ the blog hop!!

  3. Love the cork board wall idea. We sure could use one.

  4. I love the cork board idea, and I really want to make one for our house…so hard to find a good place to put it though.

  5. oo very cool! Love the new cork board!

  6. I love the cork board, I have often wished a couple walls were cork board! Love your approach on the calendar as well!

  7. Hmmmm…… Maybe that’s what we’ll do with the wall in the loft, put up lots of corkboard.

  8. My 3-year-old son has learned SO much just by having a magnetic calendar like yours up on the wall. Not only is he learning days of the week, he is learning numbers and sequence and repitition of days, etc. Just found your blog tonight. I’m also a homeschooling mama, but I have 4 and am expecting #5!

  9. Looks great! 🙂
