For the next few weeks we are reading our children’s Bible & leading up to the death & resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Here are a few ways we are celebrating what Christ has done for us!
We made a craft (I can’t for the life of me remember where I printed this from – sorry) that represents the palm frowns they used to celebrate as Jesus rode in on a donkey. The boys colored them & hung them up.
Then each day we will be using our Resurrection Eggs. I have my boys take turns opening the eggs as I read to them the book that comes with the eggs. This is a great hands on learning activity for kids to do as they learn about Jesus.
They opened the eggs, put the components in the eggs in the plastic egg carton so that for the last egg which is empty we can go over what we opened in each egg.
Egg 1 (donkey), 2 (3 coins), 3 (cup), 4 (praying hands), 5 (leather whip), 6 (crown of thorns), 7 (nails), 8 (dice), 9 (spear), 10 (linen cloth), 11 (rock), 12 (NOTHING!)
Then using popsicle sticks my 2 boys made a huge cross on the livingroom floor. As they made the cross I asked them questions about Jesus. Sometimes I think they are listening but Praise God that I was wrong because my 2 1/2 year old told me all by himself that Jesus is God’s son & that Jesus died on the cross & he’s not dead! I was amazed!
This is also a good activity for dexterity as they line them up in a row.

Hi! Found you at Friday Follow. Your blog is wonderful! Would love for you to visit http://www.magicalmouseschoolhouse.com, where Disney IS school!
I love the giant cross and the eggs too.
Last year my daughter came home from her Christian preschool and told me that Jesus is a guy who was nailed to a cross, and it was good. She was 2.5 then. We will read some stories about true meaning of Easter even though we are not religious. Have a happy Easter.
Great craft ideas!
Love the giant cross. We are also using the Resurrection Eggs this year. Have you ever made Resurrection Cookies? I did years ago, and plan on it this year unless I am in the hospital with a new baby (she is due the day before Easter!) I had lost my recipe and found it here: http://www.annieshomepage.com/resurrectioncookies.html
She has lots of ideas for making the holiday a celebration of Resurrection Sunday.
Cute cute!!!
I think we will try the popsicle cross during our Raising Rock Stars lesson tomorrow. I am interested to see if it works! Cute idea.
Those Resurrection Eggs look really great! I love popsicle stick activities – I SO need to pick some of these up at our dollar store!
I love the palm fronds! Thanks for sharing!
Hello Nicole!
I love the Resurrection Eggs! I just saw them at a family gathering, and my nephew’s wife told me about them–I think it is a great product which teaches about the Lord’s death and resurrection in a way they are sure to remember forever. Yes, they are definitely listening, and they remember everything, and can quote you verbatim, when you think they weren’t listening at all!
Blessings,
Wendy
