HERMIT CRAB CRAFT

It’s summer, I am a bit more laid back with our homeschooling. Trying to find more fun things to do with the kids but yet educational. We have been doing quite a bit of crafts.
I read Eric Carle’s A House For A Hermit Crab to my 3 and 4 year old and then I decided to have them do a craft to accompany it.

A House for Hermit Crab (World of Eric Carle)
I found this craft on Pinterest that I decided to do but tweaked it for my kids.
Materials:
Paper Plate
Colorful Paper Cut into Squares
Staples
Construction Paper
Markers/Crayons
Glue
Googly eyes or Circle Stickers
Cut a paper plate into 4 pieces, like this 1st picture.

Stack them on top of each other leaving a bit of a space, staple them once in place.
Then glue the colorful paper to the paper plate
Glue on a piece of construction paper, make the hermit crab legs and face which I just did free hand and had my kids glue down the while hermit crab on the paper. The eyes are just round circle stickers.

This craft was inspired when my 7 year old was learning about crustaceans in his homeschooling and he did a whelk craft which I will be posting soon with our Apologia lesson.
Linking this homeschool post up to Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers, and delicate Construction, 1 +1 +1 = 1, and Homeschool Creations this week.
