Homemade Walt Disney World Count Down Counter

mickey mouse count down

Our family is taking our 1st mini vacation soon. This is our 1st attempt with 5 kids (it ought to be interesting). My kids are so excited that we made a Disney count down counter for our trip! With a collaboration of my kids and I this is what we made:

Materials:

A Pocket Chart

Printed Disney Numbers

Cereal Box

Glue Stick/Scissors

I printed the numbers off, cut them out and glued them on the box of a cereal box then cut them out into individual squares. I like using cereal boxes for projects like this because it’s recycling, thrifty and it makes the paper non-flimsy.  I placed the number cards in a pocket chart that I purchased at Target in the dollar area a few years back. Next I added binder clips to the grommets on the corners of the pocket chart and hung them on our garage door in our home (the door is metal) so the magnets I used clamping on the binder rings held up nicely.

Each day my kids wake up they are super excited to flip a number upside down because that is another day closer to our trip to Walt Disney World.  It’s a great concept for my littler ones too!

My kids have been adding their own Mickey Mouse artwork around the count down. My 4 year old daughter has made most of these.

Do you make counter down counters for your kids when you are going on a vacation? Ours is nothing fancy and you can tell that it’s homemade but my kids love it!
