Jumping Bean is 30 months
We have been focusing on learning our shapes for the last few weeks. This week we mostly worked on square & star activities.
I printed off 2 copies everal different shapes, I glued 1 set to cardstock & the other set to clothes pins. I spread the cardstock out & had Jumping Bean match the shapes. This was good for dexterity, learning shapes & colors (I colored the shapes in with marker after I printed them out)
Then I printed off 2 2 piece shape puzzle from Confessions of a homeschooler. I glued them on cardboard so they were sturdy (I used a cereal box for the cardboard)
Then using our homemade Geoboard, Jumping Bean made squares.
Then I grabbed 2 sets of the colored square playing cards from our Candyland board game, laid them on the floor & he matched them by color, etc.
Then with my Thrifty Stencils I drew 2 different squares on a piece of paper, handed Jumping Bean stickers & had him put the stickers INSIDE the squares
Then I laid out a food tray & gave Jumping Bean Tanogram shapes (triangles, squares, etc. – with different sizes) & had him sort them by shape & size in each correct food tray area.
Then I printed off Shape-Do-Dots, gave Jumping Bean bingo dobbers for him to color in the circles in each shape. (We will be doing more of these & using them mulitple times next week for our last shape lesson)
Then I cut out a star out of cardboard & had my tot wrap rubberbands around the star (he did need a little help – we will definitely be going back to this in the future)

Come back next week & check out our shapes wrap up!

oooh I want to go out in the garage right now and look for some cardboard so B can try wrapping the rubber bands around a cardboard shape. Great idea!
What a great week! I love the rubber bands on the star! What a great picture of your 3 cuties at the end!
Where did you get your bingo dobbers? I’ve seen some online, but I kind of wanted to just grab some at a store! Love both the clothespin matching game and the Candyland cards. Great ideas!!
You just amaze me! I love seeing all the things you do with your little one. You definitely motivate me!

Love the homemade geoboard! I’m going to go read that post. We don’t have a geoboard, and if I could MAKE one, that’d be awesome!
Great week!!

Thanks for the great ideas.
melaniet42 – I got my bingo dodders at a flea market but I have seen them @ Jo-Ann’s & craft stores but they are more money.
Tina – your so sweet! thank you! I appreciate the compliments 🙂
Homemade geoboard is awesome. We just have a little plastic one. But, it does the job. I actually got our bingo dobbers at the Dollar store. We love them. You guys had a great week.
Great week! Love that last photo of the three of them – so beautiful. You have the most awesome ideas, I am always inspired after reading your blog!
Great week! Love the geoboard! I’ve got to print off the do-a-dot pages–looks like you all had a wonderful week!
Wow! Excellent Shape ideas. I want to do them all with Sophie. She really loves shapes and is great with identifying them. Your activities encompass so much more than just identifying them…fine motor, sorting, prepositions, etc. Thank you so much!
Looks like a fun week. I love the rubber band star and the shapes. The do a dot pages look like tons of fun. I’ll definitely be checking that out. Thanks for sharing your week.
Awesome! We are working on shapes too! I love your shape activities and so will be using them!
Thank you for sharing so many shape ideas! I am just starting to teach shapes to Charger and this is great info! I really like your idea to use cereal boxes to make the game more sturdy, and the Candy Land cards are a great resource. Thanks again!
The cardboard star and rubberbands is a brilliant idea – one I’ll be setting up for Matthew this week. Thanks for sharing all your great shape activities!
You guys do such neat things. I can’t wait to try some of them. I am having such a hard time decided whether to make a felt board first or a geoboard….hmmmmm….lol. Thanks for sharing.
