We do not have a pool in the back yard but we do have a pool in our community. My little ones like to bring pool toys to the pool (water guns, balls, soakers, goggles and other pool toys) but I was lugging them back and forth in a tote bag mixed with pool towels and all the other pool necessitates however, everything was getting wet. Plus when they kids were not playing with the toys they would take awhile to dry and they would stink from not being aired out correctly. So I bought mesh zippered laundry bag. The mesh material allows the water to drain so the pool toys dry and do not get moldy.
When the kids are not using the pool toys we store them in this bag and in the garage. The next time the kids go to play with them they are dry, not moldy and they do not stink! I assign one of my children each trip to the pool in charge of the bag which means they have to clean up the toys from the pool area, drain as much water from the toys, place the toys in the bag and bring them back home. These bags are an inexpensive way to save money on not having to purchase new pool toys and aggravation!
How do you store pool toys? What are your summer storage solutions?
We don’t have a pool. But I am loving the zippered bag for bath time toys! That would make storage a lot easier.
I love this idea!!! It could be nice for bath toys too.
Yes! That is a great idea Jacqui!
We do the same thing! We don’t have a pool, but we use a neighbor’s and it is so easy to carry the toys in the laundry bag.
We always store our water toys in mesh. That way all the water can drain out, and we don’t end up with mildewed toys.
That is a great bag! I need to get a couple for he house. Perfect to carry all your toys, towels and sunscreen. Never have to dig thru a bag to find out what’s at the bottom.
That’s a great bag and perfect for storing pool toys. We don’t have a pool but we do have a plethora of bath toys. We have a toy rack in the tub that also allows the toys to dry to avoid getting moldy! But I really love this bag!
That would be smart for the beach, too. All the sand would fall right out.
This is such a great idea!! I wish I had thought of this when my kids were younger.
Yes, we learned our lesson when one of our pool toys got moldy! This would help us keep organized!
If I had a pool I would store my toys in a very similar manner. Allowing the water to drain out and air to flow through is important.
Mesh is definitely the way to go not only for pool toys but for wet towels, bathing suits etc!
Mesh is definitely the way to go not only for pool toys but also for wet towels, bathing suits etc.
I can’t stand going to a friends house and tripping over pool toys all around the pool- I will have to share this idea with them. I just love how affordable it is!
This is such a great post because I had an entire collection of pool toys ruined last year because I stored them incorrectly. There was mold and mildew everywhere. Yuck!
We don’t have a pool, so we don’t have pool toys. We do have some beach toys, though, and we keep them in our beach bag.
We keep beach toys in a beach bag too. I’m totally switching to the mesh just to avoid the sand alone! 🙂
Rosey, Never thought of the sand! Good point!
I use this same idea for our toys that we take the the pool. We keep the bag outside and then it’s always ready when we hop in the car to go. It’s such a great way to store toys and keep them drained so that they don’t grow mold or mildew!
What a perfect idea! I have tons of pool toys I never know what to do with. They end up getting lost and I have to buy more. This is great!
We have a pool bag that gets all the toys once they have dried off
Love mesh bags for all sorts of things like this. We don’t have a pool, but the bags are just as handy for trips to the beach where items can get wet and sandy.
My parents keep a plethora of pool toys, tubes and noodles in the garage. They could definitely use a storage solution or two.
We do not have a pool. But I should use this for all of my children’s bath toys!
I like this idea it not only is easy but it allows them to air dry so no yucky stuff on them.
This is a great idea. I will have to get a bag like this for our house. This is our first year with a pool.
I love this idea. I will have to share this with my friends with pools. Such a simple idea.
Excellent idea. Mold, sand, excess water – all bad ideas in a regular bag!!
That’s a great bag to have. We don’t have a pool but would do this if had one.
This would be an amazing idea for bath toys as well! I am going to have to try this out!
That’s a really neat idea. I have seen a few swimming pools where the toys are scattered about everywhere. That looks bad. They need to take a hint from you!
What a super cool idea. I love it. Thanks so much for sharing.
That’s a simple genius idea and I love it!! We put ours in a tote but then it gets sandy and icky regardless because it’s hard to store right from the beach. This is a great solution!
I am loving that zippered Bag .. Its so convenient and most of all you get to see the toys
What a great idea! We have a pool at home but this is great for traveling. We often go to friends and family that have pools so this is great.
We don’t hve a pool but we have a barn. I throw everything in there. Does that count?!
These are some great tips for storing pool toys. This way you will have easy access to them when you need them for the pool.
This is a fantastic idea. I am going to use this for bath toys too!
I like this idea of storing pool toys. I store ours in a bucket that has holes for draining. I store our bath ones the same way.
What a great idea! Boy, could I have used this when my kids were little!
