We have started our Science curriculum Apologia’s Swimming Creatures on the 5th Day. We love it! This week we learned about currents and tides. Here is the experiment we did:
The object was to get the cheerios to go in the curricular motion as a current does.
Materials needed:
2 hair dryers or small fans
water
casserole type dish
cheerios
Turn the hair dryers on low aim them above the water while the other person hold the hair dryer / fan along one side of the long side of the casserole dish towards your end. The Cheerios will start to flow in a circle forming a mini gyre which as produced by winds on the earth that blow in opposite directions!
