My 3 year old daughter and I just got working on Are You My Mother? Lapbook. We do not do a normal lapbook per say, we have been doing a new book every 2 weeks and I keep all her work in a binder.
I printed off the Are you my Mother Sequence Game and glued the cut outs to the back of completed cereal boxes and as I read the story to my daughter she placed the story pieces in sequential order of the story.
I also uploaded Birds Adventure for free on my iPad for her to play and color the sliding bird puzzles.
I found this cute bird craft on Pinterest but I decided to modify it a bit.
Materials for the craft:
paper brown bag (ours was recycled)
1 googly eye
1 beak (I used orange card stock and cut a small triangle)
blue finger paint
glue stick & bottle glue
white paper
I drew a nest on the paper and then I ripped up the brown paper bag, she glued the pieces in the nest. Then she painted her hand and made a hand print on the next and then glued the googly eye and beak on the palm portion of the hand print – making a bird in the nest.
For dinner we had a special meal to go with our Are You My Mother theme.
Ingredients:
cooked pasta
pasta sauce (I admit it mine was jar sauce)
Meatball Ingredients:
Ground turkey
a small handful of homemade breadcrumbs
couple of sprinkles of basil
small handful of shredded mozzarella cheese
eyes – mozzarella cheese
beak – a small piece of carrot
I rolled into meatballs and cooked for 50 minutes on 425 degrees.
Once the pasta was cooked I placed on her plate shaping it into a nest like shape and added the meatballs to her plate. I stuck the carrot beak in the center of the side of the meatball and the eyes I allowed the mozzarella cheese to melt into circle eyes.
