Star Wars Bookmarks #MayTheForceBeWithYou

I remember when the first Star Wars movie came out when I was a kid, from then on I was hooked.  Thankfully my husband was like me when I was a child; a Star Wars fan.  As kids we both had the original Star Wars toys (I wish I still had mine, they maybe worth some money).  It has trickled down because my boys love Star Wars. That being said we could not pass up May 4th (May the Force Be With You) go by and not do a fun Star Wars craft.

Our homeschool group classes have ended for the year so we have switched gears on our curriculum (yes we still homeschool over the summer).  One of the things we really focus on is reading.  Why not mix reading and a Star Wars craft together?

Materials:

Card stock

Bookmark template

Star Wars characters printed out

Glue stick

Elmer’s (white or gel glue)

Glitter glue

Thin tip markers

Trace the template onto the card stock and then cut out. Follow the directions on the template, glue the folds in place (do not use too much glue, you do not want it gushing out of the sides).  Cut out your Star Wars character and then using the glue stick glue it on the top facing up portion of the bookmark. Next the kids and I used our markers to make the characters a bit brighter and glitter glue to make accents along the character giving it a bit of a pop. Allow the bookmark to dry. Finally add it to the corner of the page in your book to hold your place!

Be sure to check out the pool noodle Lightsabers my kids made a few years ago!

How are you celebrating May 4th?

Oh my goodness! I LOVE LOVE LOVE these. I also love that you can put the pages of the specific reading assignments for the older kids. I wish I would have thought of something like this before. It’s also a perfect craft to do with some of my young clients.
