How To Make Foam Soap With Essential Oils

I love what I call fancy foam hand soap but I do not buy them much because with eight of us soap goes fast.  My mom knows how much I like these soaps so she bought me a bottle at Christmas but this morning I used the last of it.  Yes, I admit I hoarded it for myself, I placed it on my side of the master bathroom sink all for me to use. Since I had the foam dispenser from this bottle I decided to make my own again

Materials:

Hand foam pump

Soap

Essential oils

Here’s how to make it:

1) Take an existing soap foam hand pump (mine was one that I had from Bath and Body Works, I did remove the brand label by soaking the bottle in warm water and then peeled the label off.)

2) Add 1 inch of liquid soap to the bottle and then SLOWLY add water then put the top back on. DO NOT shake (trust me it gets sudsy and you will only have a watery soapy mess).

3) Simply put the filled bottle upside down for a few minutes and then shake gently side to side.

4) Add 5 drops of essential oil to the mix, I used lavender oil

It works nicely and leaves my hands smelling like the fancy soap I like so much! There are so many amazing essential oils and brands on the market that would leave your hands smells great. I think next time I will use orange essential oil.

What essential oils would you use in your hand foam soap?

  1. I would love to make soap like this! It would definitely save money and I would assume it’s probably better for you since it doesn’t have a whole bunch of other stuff in it. I’m kind of excited to try this.

  2. I love this idea. I got several foam soaps at after Christmas sales, and love the idea of making my own.

  3. Reesa Lewandowski says:

Oh wow I never thought to make my own foaming soap before! How great! I would love to give this a try!

  4. So EASY! I love this clever idea, because I can add in whatever scent I need from my essential oils. Brilliant! Thanks!

  5. What a neat idea! I think I would pick vanilla or peppermint depending on how I was feeling at the time. Sometimes you do not think about the things that are easy to put together. Thank you for the idea.

    • I am new with essential oils but from my understanding you have to be careful with peppermint. When I use it on my skin I mix it with coconut oil. I think it can irritate the skin if not and I am not sure if water and soap would work for non-irritation.

  6. Amy Desrosiers says:

I would add some lavendar, or lemon grass oil to mine. I am now sorry I recycled my foam hand pump soaps.

  7. I am trying to incorporate more essential oils into our lives. This is a great way to do it. Thanks!

  8. I have never used any essential oils. I am always a little surprised at all of the different things I see people doing with them.
