Whew it has been crazy in our home this year! If you are a consistent reader of Mama to 6 Blessings you are probably wondering where I have been. I am finally catching my breath and back to what I have missing, writing and sharing with you!
If you missed it my husband and I welcomed our 6th baby (4th boy) into our family late April. He was born early due to him being my 6th c-section and due to complications from all the past c-sections my doctor thought it was best to deliver him at week 34. Sure enough once he was born he had breathing complications and he was whisked off to the NICU. Thankfully he got to go home when I did which was two days later only to find that he had to go back after a week of his bilirubin numbers off. Again, thankfully after being under the ultraviolet lights his numbers were normal enough to leave the hospital.
At three months the baby was admitted back to the hospital with RSV and complications due to immature lung development. Still to this day at eight months he needs breathing treatments and steroids due to being born early and under developed lungs. I am praying that this is something he will outgrow. For now we take it day by day and are super careful to keep him away from anyone who is sick or else it will trigger more complications.
After bring baby home we realized our 1500 square foot house was too cramped for 8 of us so it was time to start house hunting. My husband wanted to do this years ago but I was content in our little home, it was our first house together and I did not want to give that up. I brought 6 babies home in that house. That home held so many wonderful memories but it was time to find a larger home for my big family, one where we would create new memories in. So for a few months we searched, we found one we liked and it was in our desired neighborhood. Thankfully we paid an building inspector to come out and check it out and in his findings he found mold in the walls along with various other large problems so we backed out. So it was time to start house hunting again. If you have never been house hunting before let me tell you it is draining, stressful and overwhelming! To make a long story short we found what we were looking for, a home that meets all of our needs and then some!
Our move took seven U-Haul truck trips and now we are finally all moved in! With homeschooling and a baby unpacking has been quite a challenge but the good news is that we are almost done. It feels good to have a separate homeschool/playroom area and a backyard for the kids to play.
So you can see why I have not blogged consistently now, right? It has been hectic but I am back! I look forward to the new year and sharing all kinds of great articles and information with you! So be sure to stay tuned! Happy New Year!
How has your year been? What are your most memorable moments?
Oh wow. Yes that is a lot. We have to be doing the same in the new year.. house hunting. I’m deathly afraid of the process. All the best to you and your family.
Renz, one bit of advise to you — invest in a building inspector. For someone who is licensed to come and check out whatever house you are interested in purchasing. The 1st house we put an offer in had mold in the walls and we would have never known this if it was not for our wonderful inspector! Best to you!
You have had a wonderful year. The blessing of your little one I am sure was the highlight of the year. You have a beautiful family may 2017 bring you many more blessings.
Thank you Rebecca, Happy New Years to you too and may God send many blessing to you in 2017!
Congrats on your new little one and your new home! Wishing your family health and happiness in the new year. I completely understand the need for a blogging break when family life gets hectic as I took one in 2016 as well. Here is to a productive 2017!
It sounds like a very busy year for you! My twins were NICU babies so I understand how chaotic and scary it can be when they get sick. Here’s to things going smoother!
What a year! Congratulations on the birth of your baby. He is adorable and you have a beautiful family.
You’ve had a busy and great year! My oldest had RSV as an infant just a few days old and had the same issues as your little one. It’s horrible to watch but hopefully it gets better for him real quick. ‘Y oldest is now 12 but he has outgrown it as he’s gotten older so I hope the same happens for your little guy!!
Me too, thank you Dawn!
What an exciting way to celebrate the season! Baby number six! Wow. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! You have a beautiful family!
