How To Make A Minecraft Creeper Cake

The hottest craze at least in my home is Minecraft. My older boys enjoy playing it on Xbox and on their tablets. They like playing it so much they have taught their five year old brother and seven year old sister how to play. If you are not familiar with Minecraft let me explain it to you in a nutshell. Players are assigned a profile and they can go on each other profiles and play together. I like them playing this game because there is no gore and they can use their creativity by building different things like houses, buildings and other things.

When my son’s birthday came up it was a no brainer what kind of birthday cake he wanted me to make. Take a guess! Yep, Minecraft!

 Minecraft

We chose the Creeper character which was super easy to make. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

1 Box of cake mix

1 Container of cake frosting

Chocolate chips

Green food coloring

First I baked the cakes as per the box instructions.  I baked both cakes in circular cake pans.  After baked and cooled I gently removed them from the pans.  Inside of the frosting container I added 4 large drops of green food coloring and with a butter knife I mixed it together until it formed a uniform green “Creeper” color.  Next I iced one of the cakes and then staked both cakes on top of each other.  Then I cut both of the stacked cakes (now one cake) into a square shape. After icing the now square cake I added my Creeper design by using chocolate chips.

This cake was so easy to make and my nine year old loved it!

Have you made any Minecraft goodies for your kids and if so what did you make?
