6 Reasons To Visit Florida’s Atlantic Ocean With Kids #SSLBloggerRoadTrip

My family recently took a road trip along the Florida coast. We stayed at one of the best beaches (Atlantic Ocean) I have been to in Florida.  Besides the actual beauty of Melbourne Beach what makes this beach a must to add to your travel bucket list?

You can walk the shoreline and site see. Look out at the ocean and see the pelicans diving in the sea for a meal, boats, barges, surfers and other water activities going on. Then there is site seeing in the opposite direction. Enjoy the views of the old and new homes that use the beach as their backyard.

With the waves coming in brings in a new assortment of sea shells each passing moment. My kids collected treasures such as sea urchin and crab claw skeletons and other shells. All of the collected treasures from this trip in a glass jar displayed on our shelf to enjoy.

Taking a break from the hot Florida weather and dipping in the ocean. The waves can be a bit rough but the water is nice and refreshing. The kids like to run away from the waves, it is a game they all played to see who could keep away.

The kids loved looking for Ghost Crabs. Their little tunnels where every where in the sand. So the kids would stand and wait for the crabs to come out in hopes to see a glimpse. It paid off because we saw a few of them.

Melbourne Beach, Florida Ocean Ghost CrabsIn the dark of the night between 11 PM to 2 AM mama sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. This is the hottest thing for tourists and locals to do at this beach.  Some even offer tours for this amazing experience. With little children unfortunately we were not able to experience this because of the late hours. When you walk along to upper portion of the beach you will see several areas marked areas where the turtle eggs have been laid. This is done so that they are not disturbed, it is against the law to dig them up or disturb these eggs. If you are unable to see the turtles lay their eggs you can get up really early the next morning and take a walk along the beach and sea fresh nests laid from the night before and even get to speak with students at the local college who are out tagging these areas. I found this so educational and was one of my favorite things I did on this trip.
