Do It Yourself Mickey Mouse / Minnie Mouse Shirts In Minutes!

My tween and I were invited to a Disney media event a few months back. I wanted to make us matching Mickey Mouse shirts for the event. I know I am corny!  In the process of making the shirts I decided to make my son’s shirt Mickey Mouse and mine Minnie Mouse. This project was effortless and only took me about 15-20 minutes per shirt to make.

Mickey shirt buttons

Materials:

Solid colored cotton t-shirts (I purchased mine on sale in the craft section at Michael’s)

Mickey Mouse cookie cutter

HeatnBond, Scissors

Iron

Desired Fabric (do not try fleece, trust me it does not work)

Ribbon

Needle and Thread

Mickey shirt materials

First I laid out the fabric and the HeatnBond and traced the Mickey Mouse cookie cutter on it. If you do not have a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter no worries you can either free hand one or you can print a silhouette on-line, cut it out and trace that on the fabric and HeatnBond. So you should have 2 Mickey or Minnie cut outs. Heat iron without the steam option. Find where you want your Mickey / Minnie Mouse on your t-shirt and place the HeatnBond down and then the fabric Mickey Mouse / Minnie Mouse cut out on top and then gently iron.  Make sure than all the edges are firmly ironed and heated down so that the fabric does not fray or the design does not come off after washes. My recommendation is to line dry not to put in the dry after use.

If you are making a Minnie Mouse use all of the same steps above. Then cut a ribbon about 2 inches long and use a lighter to singe both ends so they do not fray. Make a standard bow and then hand sew Minnie’s bow between her ears.

Viola! Disney shirts! Great to wear to the Disney parks, themed birthday parties or wear for fun!

Have you have made any Disney shirts of your own? If so what character did you make?
