Inside Out Movie Swirl Cookie Recipe

Yum
My son and I went to the pre-screening to Inside Out movie earlier this week and we LOVED it! This weekend the rest of my family will go see it at the drive in. This is all my kids are talking about so I made them an Inside Out tasty treat to enjoy until they see the movie.    Each character represents in the movie represents an emotion.  I used the colors these characters are in the and turned them into a fun recipe.

Cookies
  1. 2 Cups of All Purpose Flour
  2. 1/4 Tsp. Salt
  3. 3/4 Cup Softened Unsalted Butter
  4. 1 Large Egg
Inside Out Colors
  1. Food coloring (red for anger, green for disgust, blue for sadness, purple for fear, yellow for joy)
  2. Color sprinkles
For Cookies
  1. Combine all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl and mix. Next add the wet ingredients (butter, egg, vanilla) mix until everything is combined. Do not over mix.
  2. Divide the cookie dough mix into 5 equal amounts. I placed each one in it's own bowl and started adding color. 3 drops of yellow for joy, 3 drops blue for sadness, 3 drops red and blue for fear, 3 drops green for disgust and 3 drops red for anger) I hand mixed the colors by hand yes it was messy but I found it the best way to get the color fully blended.
  3. Flour rolling pin, lay down a long piece of wax paper and roll out the 1st colored dough. Lay it down on a baking sheet pan. Then roll out each colored dough separately and lay on top of the previous one. Slowly peel of the wax paper off. When all have been rolled out and stacked then slowly roll tightly into a tube then peel of the last piece of wax paper. Roll the cookie dough in sprinkles. Start cutting the dough into pieces. Bake on 325 degrees for 15 minutes.
