Homemade Lavender Scented Hand Soap (Made By My Kids)

My kids and I decided to make homemade hand soaps for the moms in our family. I scoured Pinterest and looked at different variations but ultimately decided to do our own thing. I have to say this makes a nice gift for any occasion and costs very little money.

Materials needed:

Lavender Essential Oils

Microwavable Safe Pouring Cup

Goody Type Bags

2 lbs Of Glycerin Soap

Embellishments To Add Inside The Soap (I used table decoration confetti which I bought at Michael’s on clearance. You could use anything, plastic animals, etc.)

First line up molds, if you are using silicone cupcake liners like me place them in a cooking pan so that when you are pouring and you happen to spill then it is easy to clean up. Have the kids place the decorations for inside the soaps face down in the molds. Next cut up the Glycerin into cubes and place them in the microwave safe cup and heat for 30 seconds. Mix then heat for another 30 seconds. It should be fully melted, if not then heat for another 30 seconds.

Once the soap is fully melted add 4 drops of lavender essential oils to the mix.   Next with supervision of the kids slowly pour the melted soap in the molds. Once they are all poured allow to sit untouched for at least 30 minutes. Then when they are cooled and appear solid gently peel the soaps out of the molds. Finally if you are giving them as gifts place them in goody bags. We placed three soaps per bag.

We made a few extra’s for the kids to give to their Community Bible Study teachers as a thank you end of the year gift.

Have you ever made soaps before? We will definitely be making them again. What a lot of fun!
