My kids have been huge How To Train a Dragon fans, stemming back to the 1st movie How To Dragon movie. So when How To Train a Dragon 2 came out on Blu-Ray/DVD my kids could not wait add this movie to their collection.
If you have not seen this movie I suggest you see it, this thrilling second chapter of the epic HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON trilogy returns to the fantastical world of the heroic Viking Hiccup and his faithful dragon Toothless. The inseparable duo must protect the peace and save the future of men and dragons from the power-hungry Dragon! To celebrate the release of this movie on Blu-Ray/DVD we had a Family Movie Night watching How To Train A Dragon 2!
The kids got into “dragon” mode by coloring some of the How To Train a Dragon coloring / activity sheets that came in our party kit and they enjoyed wearing their DreamWorks Drgaon Flipeez Hat.
I took the time to make them a yummy dinner before we watched the movie:
“Dragon Legs”
- 1 1/2 sticks of butter
- 2 lbs of chicken wings
- 1 bottle of Jack's Hot Sauce (or any other hot sauce brand)
- Line baking pan with aluminum foil.
- Clean the chicken wings and line them up on the baking pan.
- Bake on 425 degrees for 60 minutes.
- When the wings are almost done baking add the butter and bottle of hot sauce in a pan and cook on low until the butter is completely melted into the hot sauce.
- When the wings are done baking then drain any juice on the pan.
- Then broil for 7-10 minutes until the wings are crispy.
- Once the wings are done cooking then add them to large bowl and pour the hot wing sauce over the chicken wings and give them a toss so that they are all coated.
- You can use any hot wing sauce, the ones that do not have red 40 in them work best. Check the ingredients on the bottle.
Once our bellies were full it was time to watch How To Train a Dragon 2. We were looking forward to the new adventure and seeing the new dragons. Hiccup is an unlikely hero, a clumsy Viking who managed to make a huge difference thanks to his deep bond with a sweet and scrawny dragon named Toothless. These two were the key to bringing peace and unity to the warring factions of the dragons and the Vikings. Now, five years later, the land is tranquil, but new adventures await the duo in between challenging other dragon-riding pairs to races. The duo love to explore, and one day, they discover a mysterious cave in the ice. It is inhabited by one dragon rider and many dragons, and it’s unclear just what its presence will mean for the community. However, it’s the task of Hiccup and Toothless to find out and keep the peace.
