Coring Strawberries The Easy Way

My kids are big fruit eaters. One of their favorite fruits are strawberries. I buy them in bulk because we eat so many. My husband teased me because after I clean them I would slice off the tops of the strawberries but taking too much of the edible strawberry with it which went to waste until my husband made a suggestion. We have so may sippy cups that come with sturdy straws so why not use them for just drinking?

First wash the strawberries very well, I use my homemade veggie/fruit wash to wash my fruits and vegetables in. Rip off the green tops of the strawberries. Then take a re-usable straw because they are more sturdy then the disposable straws and at the top of the strawberry push the straw gently through so that it goes through the whole berry.

Once it’s pushed all the way through the core will slide out in the straw at the bottom of the strawberry. Remove the core from the straw and proceed with the next berry. Simple right?

Are you like me, slicing the whole top of the strawberry and throwing it away? Why not give this easy method of coring a strawberry a try!
