My kids love to build whether it is with Lego’s, blocks or whatever they can find. So when the topic at Science Club this week was building I knew my kids would enjoy it! Build with marshmallows and dry spaghetti noodles!
The challenge was to build the highest structure. It was not an easy task. A strong foundation definitely needed to be built in order for the structure not to topple over. Then it was a matter of keeping the structure in proportion. It was fun to watch the kids use their creative skills.
Some worked out great while others didn’t work out and kids had to start all over again which meant they had to come up with a different strategy.

That’s a great lesson, but it would also be super for the kiddos on rainy ‘I’m soooo bored’ days too!! I’m trying it with mine!

Great idea to work with the spaghetti noodles. I have worked a lot with marshmallows and toothpicks but I like the idea of the spaghetti noodles to see just how much they can withstand. Thanks for the idea!
What a great idea! I’ve been brainstorming ways lately to add more fun to food for my girls and it’s making a difference! They are eating better and are having fun at the same time! I’m all for “playing with food!” 😉

the first thing that came to mind when i saw the marshmallows was smores. lol. my daughter will love this activity!
I never thought of doing something like that with food. This is a great activity my children would enjoy, thank you.
These are all really good ideas! But I totally admit to pulling out the marshmallows & pasta when I need my kids occupied for a bit, especially in the winter.
I still remember the time in grade school, when we were paired up in teams, and had to build a bridge out of toothpicks that would hold the weight of some text books (I forget how many). It was a really fun challenge, and really got us to use our heads.

I’ve never thought of this, but it’s a great idea. Especially since so many kids are known to put things in their mouth. Better marshmallows than legos.
