Cleaning Tile Grout The Natural Way

My husband and I purchased our home pre-construction. We got to choose the flooring so downstairs in our kitchen, front door and bathroom it’s tiled.  No matter how many times I have mopped and cleaned my floor the grout it not the color it was when we moved in 9 years ago. With a baby who is now getting around quite well I wanted to clean the group but using natural products so  I came up with a simple cleaner formula.

Ingredients
  1. 1 1/2 cups of baking soda
  2. 1 cups of warm water
  3. 1 cup of vinegar
  4. 1 -2 toothbrushes
Instructions
  1. Take the baking soda and warm water and mix together then slowly add the vinegar (I say slowly because you do not want this to become a science experiment). Mix completely until blended, it should be a paste mixture. If not add a bit more baking soda. Then take the toothbrush and dip into the mixture and clean the grout. You will need to use a bit more elbow grease. When your done your grout will look like a completely different color! Nice and clean! Take a rag and by hand clean off the baking soda film and then mop as normal.
Notes
  1. I had to use 2 toothbrushes to clean my small kitchen area. Toothbrushes are fairly inexpensive and sometimes you can get them for free at CVS or Walgreens. Keep an eye out for their deals and stock up to use for cleaning your grout!

  16. Love this! I usually use this cleaner with bleach and it’s just so strong and hard to wash off.

  17. Great idea and the smell isn’t too bad. That’s the toughest thing for me is buying toxic smelling products for the bathroom and feeling like I’m going to pass out before I finish! At least I like the vinegar smell!
